Plamen Todorov nominated as sole candidate for Bulgaria's anti‑corruption commission
The Bulgarian National Assembly’s parliamentary committee held a hearing for the only nominee to the restored Commission for Counteracting Corruption (KPK), Plamen Todorov. He was put forward by the Progressive Bulgaria parliamentary group and currently serves as director of the State Financial Inspection Agency.
The KPK, re‑established after the previous anti‑corruption body was split, is an independent state authority tasked with preventing, detecting and sanctioning corruption among high‑level public officials. Its powers include reviewing asset and interest declarations, investigating conflicts of interest, acting on citizen reports, and cooperating with foreign partners on cross‑border corruption cases. The hearing is a formal step before the full parliament votes on his appointment.
