Plan B Foundation to open contemporary art hub in Cluj-Napoca

The Plan B Foundation, established in 2005 by Mihai Pop and contemporary artist Adrian Ghenie, is launching a new contemporary art hub in Cluj-Napoca at Casa Bogdánffy. Supported by Banca Transilvania, the project aims to create a space for exhibitions, research, and cultural dialogue.

The historic site, which dates back to the early 19th century and incorporates a 16th-century structure known as the Shoemaker's Tower, has been renovated by Attila Kim Architects. The facility will feature exhibition halls, a library, a cafe, and a sculpture garden. The foundation's mission focuses on recovering and promoting Romanian art from the last half-century, particularly works by creators who have lacked international visibility.

The program is scheduled to begin with an inaugural exhibition running from September 18 to November 22, 2026. This opening event will showcase works by various artists, including Radu Abraham, Ioana Bătrânu, and Alex Bodea, alongside international names such as Piero Manzoni and Jill Magid.
