Planes d’Hostoles to begin school kitchen renovation in 2027

The municipality of Planes d’Hostoles has announced plans to remodel the kitchen and dining area of the local school, with construction expected to begin in 2027. The project aims to address the aging infrastructure of the current facility, which Mayor Marc Puig noted does not currently meet safety and regulatory standards.

The total cost of the renovation is estimated at 800,000 euros. The Generalitat is expected to provide approximately 70% of the funding, amounting to nearly one million euros in potential subsidies under the regional village plan. The local government is currently seeking additional funding sources to cover the remaining balance.

Beyond safety improvements, the project is designed to create a multi-purpose space that can serve as a climate refuge during extreme heat, functioning as a versatile classroom during the summer months to meet the needs of new generations in the municipality.
