Planeta Rica Producciones addresses Egidio Cuadrado pension and royalty claims
Planeta Rica Producciones has issued a statement responding to claims made by the family of the late accordionist Egidio Cuadrado regarding the absence of a retirement pension and difficulties accessing musical royalties.
The company, which worked with Cuadrado for over 30 years during his tenure with Carlos Vives, stated that it fulfilled all social security contributions required during his periods of service as an independent musician. The firm clarified that pension eligibility is determined by the General Pension System and an individual's specific contribution history, noting it cannot be responsible for periods when the musician engaged in other professional activities.
Regarding royalties, the company asserted that it has continued to distribute payments to Cuadrado's family for songs in which he was a co-author, including works such as ‘Amores escondidos’, ‘Carito’, ‘La llamada’, and ‘Volver al Valle’. The statement also emphasized that all service agreements were signed by both parties and concluded by mutual consent, noting that the company sought to ensure the well-being of the musician and his family at the request of Carlos Vives and Claudia Elena Vásquez.
