Planetariums in Australia and India enhance astronomical education
Planetariums in Australia and India are enhancing public engagement through immersive technology and specialized programming.
In Adelaide, the Catholic Archdiocese of Adelaide’s Council for Integral Ecology is hosting an event at the University of South Australia’s Mawson Lakes Campus on September 25. The program, part of the Season of Creation, features a night sky presentation narrated by an astronomer followed by a full-dome movie to explore the universe and solar system.
In New Delhi, the Nehru Planetarium has undergone a modernization project. Managed by the Prime Ministers Museum and Library, the facility has introduced 3D graphics, Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR) shows. Upgrades also include a new reading room and library, a lounge for institutional interactions, and improved exhibition and projection amenities to support science communication.
