Planetary Health Check: Seven of nine Earth boundaries exceeded
The 2026 Planetary Health Check, published by the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), reports that seven of the nine planetary boundaries have been exceeded. These boundaries represent the critical support systems required to maintain a stable habitat for humanity.
The report indicates that the seven transgressed boundaries have reached their highest levels of violation to date.
