Planned electricity and water outages hit several Turkish cities
On 1 August 2026 a series of scheduled electricity interruptions will affect many districts in İzmir, Istanbul, Eskişehir and surrounding areas. GDZ Elektrik announced maintenance in İzmir’s Aliağa, Bayındır, Bergama, Bornova, Karabağlar, Kemalpaşa, Konak and other districts, with cut times ranging from 09:00 to 17:00. In Istanbul, BEDAŞ listed outages for districts such as Bayrampaşa, Güngören, Kağıthane and Bağcılar, also mainly between 09:00 and 17:00. OEDAŞ warned of planned cuts in several neighbourhoods of Eskişehir, including Odunpazarı, Alpu and Seyitgazi, with hours varying from 09:00 to 17:30.
A day earlier, on 31 July 2026, İzmir Water and Sewerage Authority (İZSU) issued a water‑supply interruption schedule for districts across İzmir, including Aliağa, Bayındır, Bergama, Bornova, Foça, Gaziemir, Karabağlar, Kemalpaşa, Konak, Torbalı, Urla and Ödemiş, with outage periods of two to six hours. Nevşehir also reported electricity cuts on the same day in Avanos, Hacıbektaş and Ürgüp districts, with some outages lasting up to eight hours. Residents are advised to prepare by unplugging appliances and arranging alternative power or water sources where needed.
