Planning committees recommend rejection of two Welsh caravan site proposals
Planning authorities in Wales have recommended the refusal of two separate caravan development schemes following repeated objections and sustainability concerns.
In Ceredigion, a proposal by Vale Holiday Parks Ltd to relocate 47 caravan pitches to Ocean Heights Holiday Parks in Maenygroes is again facing recommendation for refusal. The plan involves moving 17 caravans from Wern Mill Caravan Park and 30 from The Village Holiday Park. Local community council Llanllwchaearn opposes the move, arguing it would double the site area. Planning officers noted the location lacks local services and active travel connectivity, relying heavily on private vehicles, and described the project as a significant expansion onto undeveloped greenfield land.
In Pembrokeshire, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority has recommended turning down a third application for a traveller site at Froghall Yard in Saundersfoot. The application, submitted by David Evans, sought to establish a site including a static caravan, a touring caravan, and a utility room. Previous rejections cited unacceptable impacts on the landscape and a lack of capacity for caravan development within the national park. The applicant has contested the authority's stance, noting that some site clearance occurred prior to his purchase of the land in 2023.
