Plant Care: Natural “Magic” Waters and DIY Bottle Irrigation

A guide from Guia e Técnicas da Vovó recommends five natural “magic” waters to boost plant health: rice water for starch‑rich root strength, banana‑peel water as a potassium‑rich fertilizer, wood‑ash water for potassium, lentil water for nutrients, and aloe‑vera water to stimulate growth and natural defenses. Plant specialist Peter Ivanov notes that watering frequency depends on species, size, soil and environment, advising a tailored approach for indoor plants.

Another tutorial shows how to convert a PET bottle into a simple drip‑irrigation system. By drilling small holes near the bottle’s neck, filling it with water, and partially burying it in the pot, water is released slowly by gravity, keeping the substrate moist longer and reducing evaporation. Suitable bottles range from 500 ml to 1.5 L, and the method works best with well‑draining soil and medium‑sized pots.
