Plastic bottles and caps identified as leading global ocean pollutants

The Ocean Conservancy has released findings from the 2025 International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), identifying plastic bottles and caps as the most prevalent pollutants found in waterways and on beaches worldwide. During the single-day event, volunteers collected over 1.3 million plastic bottles and approximately 885,000 caps. Research indicates these items pose a significant threat to marine life, particularly seabirds, through ingestion.

In a separate effort to address marine environmental protection, the “K” LINE Group conducted a global series of cleanup initiatives from late May through early July. Approximately 630 employees and family members across 12 companies participated in collecting land-based waste from beaches, coastal areas, and urban sites to prevent debris from entering ocean ecosystems. The group has committed to making monetary donations to environmental conservation organizations based on the scale of participation in these activities.
