Plastic recycling technology and industry trade expand globally
The plastics and rubber industry is seeing significant advancements in recycling technology and international trade. The 24th Vietnam International Plastics and Rubber Industry Exhibition, VietnamPlas 2026, is scheduled to take place from September 9 to 12 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre in Ho Chi Minh City. The event is expected to host 650 exhibitors from over 15 countries, focusing on material innovation, automation, and sustainable transformation.
In the sector of waste management, Denovia has signed a strategic framework with a major international polyester producer to deploy its molecular recycling technology. This technology aims to break down difficult polyester waste—including discarded textiles and contaminated PET streams—into chemical building blocks for new materials. The partnership intends to scale from a commercial facility processing tens of millions of pounds annually to multiple facilities capable of handling billions of pounds of waste. McKinsey estimates the economic opportunity for plastics remanufacturing technologies could reach $75 billion by 2035.
