Plastic surgeon arrested in Santo Domingo for manslaughter conviction

Plastic surgeon José del Carmen Desena Montero has been arrested in Santo Domingo following a conviction for involuntary manslaughter. The arrest was carried out by the Unit for the Capture of Fugitives, Rebels, and Convicts (Ucaprec) under a judicial order.

Desena Montero was previously sentenced to one year of prison, which had been suspended on the condition that he meet specific requirements, including maintaining a declared residence, avoiding excessive alcohol consumption, and attending court-coordinated lectures. However, the court revoked the conditional suspension after he failed to comply with these obligations. He is now required to serve his full sentence at the Najayo Hombres Correction and Rehabilitation Center in San Cristóbal.
