Plastic surgeon Nishan Moheeputh sentenced to one year in prison
Plastic surgeon Dr. Nishan Moheeputh has been sentenced to one year in prison by the Intermediate Court following a second conviction for indecent assault. The ruling, delivered on October 28, 2026, by Magistrate Magalie Lambert-Henry, follows a conviction for an incident involving a 36-year-old sales and marketing manager at a private clinic in July 2015.
Magistrate Lambert-Henry emphasized the gravity of the offense, noting the defendant’s medical profession and stating that the court must send a strong signal to perpetrators of such acts. Although Moheeputh lodged a formal notice of appeal, his application for bail was denied following prosecution objections, resulting in his immediate incarceration.
This sentence follows a separate six-month prison sentence handed down in August 2026 by Magistrate Jade Ngan Chai King. That conviction involved an indecent assault on a female police officer during a consultation in April 2022. While Moheeputh was previously released on bail pending an appeal for the first case, he remains in custody following this second ruling.
