Plateau State: Four miners killed in pit collapse
Four miners, consisting of two men and two women, died following a mining pit collapse in the Baban Rafi area of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State. The victims were engaged in tin mining when the excavation site suddenly caved in.
Local youth leader Daniel Tula confirmed the deaths, noting that the bodies were recovered and buried by relatives. The incident has intensified concerns regarding the safety of unregulated artisanal mining in the region. While the Plateau State Police Command has not yet received an official report to verify the incident, authorities have indicated that mining-related deaths are frequently underreported to the police.
