Plateau State Governor installs new Long Pan

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has installed His Royal Highness Miskagam Jerome Goewam Leklak II as the new Long Pan of the Pan Chiefdom. The ceremony, held at the Ba’ap Mini Stadium in the Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area, included the presentation of the Staff of Office to the new monarch.

As part of the installation, the state government has officially restored the Pan stool to first-class status. This administrative upgrade elevates the position within the Plateau State Council of Chiefs, increasing the institution's influence regarding local governance, security, and community development.

Governor Mutfwang emphasized that strengthening traditional institutions is a priority for his administration to support peacebuilding and cultural preservation. He urged the new Long Pan to lead with unity and wisdom following the passing of the previous monarch, Miskagam Emmanuel Dabang, in May 2025.
