Plateau State launches artisan and trader empowerment program

On Thursday, the Plateau State Sustainable Development Goals Project Support Unit held an empowerment event at the Government House Little Rayfield in Jos. Artisans and traders from all 17 local government areas received intensive training in financial literacy, business management, digital finance and sustainable entrepreneurship.

Following the training, participants were provided with equipment and financial support to expand their micro‑enterprises. State Coordinator Nanbam Danjuma Lot said, “Training alone opens the mind, but training combined with tangible resources unlocks actual economic transformation.” Governor Caleb Mutfwang, represented by Deputy Governor Ngo Josephine Piyo, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to human‑capital development and to the informal sector as a driver of jobs and poverty reduction in line with the SDG agenda of “Leaving No One Behind.”
