Plateau State Police Arrest Fifth Suspect in Ibrahim Mbaya Mob Killing

The Plateau State Police Command has taken Yusuf Christopher Beskeni, a 24‑year‑old presidential aspirant of the Faculty of Arts Students Association at the University of Jos, into custody as the fifth suspect in the mob killing of 25‑year‑old model Ibrahim Mbaya (known as “Ibee”) in Jos. Police spokesperson SP Alfred Alabo said Beskeni allegedly helped tie Mbaya to a pole while the mob assaulted him, actions that led to the victim’s death.

Acting Commissioner of Police DCP Usman Sheikh Adamu assured Mbaya’s family and local residents that the investigation will continue and that all individuals involved will be brought to justice. The police have intensified efforts to locate remaining suspects. The killing, which occurred on July 27 after Mbaya was accused of stealing a mobile phone, has sparked widespread condemnation and renewed calls for stronger protection against mob justice in Nigeria.
