Plateau State: Rights group demands action following deadly community attacks

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has condemned a series of deadly attacks on Berom communities in Plateau State, calling for immediate military intervention and the arrest of perpetrators.

The rights group reported that recent violence in Gwa-Wereng Rim, Kyeng Village, Dorong, and Jol has resulted in killings, arson, and the displacement of residents. Specifically, the group noted the deaths of Bulus Mwagwong and Stephen Dachollom Kaze, as well as serious injuries to another individual.

HURIWA urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Caleb Mutfwang to move beyond condolences and implement concrete measures to protect remote rural communities, which the group claims remain dangerously exposed to armed attacks despite government assurances.
