Play installs 61-meter mobile tower in Beskidy mountains
The mobile operator Play has installed a 61.95-meter lattice tower in the Beskidy mountains within the Żywiec district to improve internet connectivity in mountainous regions. Due to the difficult terrain and lack of road access, the tower's components were transported and assembled using a helicopter.
The new base station supports multiple cellular technologies and frequencies, including 800, 900, 1800, and 2100 MHz, which are optimized for wider signal range. This infrastructure aims to eliminate ‘white spots’ in coverage, providing essential connectivity for tourists using navigation and weather apps, as well as for local residents and emergency services during crises.
This development follows broader trends in Polish telecommunications, such as Orange launching 54 new sites in the third quarter of 2024 to expand its network.
