Playa de San Juan residents back police crackdown on botellón

The Juntos Avanzamos Neighborhood Association in Playa de San Juan has expressed support for a recent intervention by the Alicante Local Police. The operation, conducted on Tuesday night, aimed to disperse a ‘botellón’ (outdoor drinking gathering) on the central boulevard of Avenida de las Naciones.

While the association clarified that its stance is not an attack on youth or the need for summer social spaces, it drew a firm line against uncivil behavior. Residents reported issues including noise disturbances during late-night hours, vandalism of urban furniture, and safety hazards caused by broken glass on the sidewalks.

The collective called for responsible leisure, emphasizing that while young people should be able to enjoy the summer, it must be done with respect for the community and public property.
