Playa del Carmen hosts national firefighters congress and opens new training center
Playa del Carmen has launched the Second National Firefighters Congress, an event featuring over 750 in-person participants and more than 2,000 online attendees. The congress includes five days of workshops and lectures led by national and international specialists to enhance emergency response capabilities in areas such as fire combat, rescue, and the use of thermal imaging and drones.
In conjunction with the congress, Municipal President Estefanía Mercado inaugurated the Advanced Training and Capacity Building Center for Firefighters. This facility is the third of its kind in Mexico and is designed to simulate emergency scenarios to strengthen the technical and operational skills of emergency personnel.
Separately, Mayor Estefanía Mercado met with Quintana Roo Attorney General Raciel López Salazar and Municipal Treasurer Guillermo Brahms González to coordinate efforts regarding transparency, legality, and the fight against corruption and impunity within public service in Playa del Carmen.
