Playa del Carmen launches human trafficking prevention program for students
The government of Playa del Carmen has launched an awareness initiative to strengthen prevention efforts against human trafficking. More than 150 students from the Colegio Nacional de Educación Profesional Técnica (Conalep) participated in a sensitization session organized by the Secretariat of Social Justice and Citizen Participation.
Initiated by the administration of Mayor Estefanía Mercado, the program aims to provide younger generations with tools to identify risk factors and recognize warning signs associated with exploitation and gender-based violence. Marbella Hernández Pérez, head of the Gender Equality Unit, emphasized that the goal is to foster safe, informed environments by providing clear information and creating spaces where youth can address concerns and learn to protect their rights.
