Quintana Roo governments deliver artisan carts in Playa del Carmen
The Quintana Roo state government, through the Secretariat of Economic Development (SEDE), has delivered two artisanal carts at Fundadores Park in Playa del Carmen. This initiative, part of the ‘Hecho en Playa’ Artisan Fair, aims to strengthen the local economy and provide new commercial spaces for artisan families.
The support benefits 33 artisans from five municipalities: Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Bacalar, Cozumel, and Felipe Carrillo Puerto. By establishing these points of sale in key tourist destinations, authorities intend to promote local products, such as jewelry, wooden utensils, and embroidered clothing, to both residents and visitors.
This coordinated effort between the state government, led by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, and the municipal government, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado Asencio, seeks to diversify the regional economy and preserve local traditions by bringing ‘Hecho en Quintana Roo’ products closer to new markets.
