Playa del Carmen pursues sports alliance and health initiatives

Playa del Carmen Mayor Estefanía Mercado has announced efforts to enhance the city's sports profile and youth opportunities through a potential alliance with the American league team Atlético Dallas. The municipality is exploring a partnership to improve local sports facilities and has expressed interest in hosting the club's preseason training sessions.

In a separate social initiative, the DIF Playa del Carmen has launched breast cancer awareness and prevention programs within the local hospitality sector. As part of the ‘Pink Month’ campaign, health officials conducted sensitization sessions for employees at the Valentín Imperial Riviera Maya hotel. The program focuses on promoting self-examination, early detection, and medical screenings to address public health challenges among workers.
