Playa Grande and Charcón beaches reopen in Puerto de la Cruz

The bathing areas of Playa Grande and Charcón in Puerto de la Cruz have reopened to the public. The Directorate General of Public Health of the Government of the Canary Islands lifted the previous restriction after recent analyses confirmed favorable water quality conditions.

The preventive closure had been in place since September 3 following unfavorable results. In addition to official health department tests, the Puerto de la Cruz City Council conducted independent analyses to ensure the safety of residents and visitors. Mayor Leopoldo Afonso stated that the priority was maintaining maximum precaution to ensure public safety during the period of uncertainty.
