Playadito leads Argentine yerba mate market sales

Playadito, produced by the Cooperativa Agrícola de Colonia Liebig, has emerged as the leader in the Argentine yerba mate market. During the first five months of 2026, Playadito recorded 25.12 million kilograms in sales, closely followed by Las Marías with 22.79 million kilograms.

The competition between the top two entities is tightening; in May, the sales gap between Playadito and Las Marías narrowed to less than 4%. Las Marías oversees several historical brands, including Taragüí, La Merced, Mañanita, and Unión.

The broader market ranking includes CBSé in third place, followed by La Cachuera (producer of Amanda) in fourth, and Rosamonte in fifth. While the top two companies from Corrientes dominate the volume, the province of Misiones maintains a significant industrial presence through brands like La Cachuera, Rosamonte, and Yerbatera Misiones SRL.

Argentina's domestic market consumes more than 270 million kilograms of yerba mate annually, averaging over 6 kilograms per inhabitant. Production is primarily concentrated in the provinces of Misiones and Corrientes.
