Playas de Rosarito launches cultural and community initiatives
The municipality of Playas de Rosarito, Baja California, has introduced several community-focused programs aimed at cultural enrichment and environmental improvement.
The “Rosarito, Ciudad de Biblioteca” initiative, a collaboration between the local government and the Lectores Urbanos group, will provide free access to digital books, audiobooks, and podcasts via QR codes in public spaces and public transport. Additionally, fifteen mobile library modules will be deployed to various community locations to decentralize access to educational materials.
In environmental efforts, residents of the Cumbres del Mar neighborhood, supported by municipal services, conducted a community cleanup and reforestation project. The initiative involved removing waste and planting 30 fruit trees and native species to improve local public spaces.
Cultural celebrations are also scheduled for November with the second annual “La Última Fiesta” Day of the Dead festival. The event will feature community altars, traditional gastronomy, and the “Cabalgata de las Ánimas,” a procession involving approximately 50 riders dressed as catrines.
