Playas de Rosarito launches first sports violence prevention tool

Playas de Rosarito has inaugurated its first ‘Violentómetro Deportivo’ at the Rosarito Sports Unit. This tool is designed to identify violent behaviors and promote respect for the rights of children and youth within sports environments.

The initiative, proposed by youth representative Michelle Rodríguez Román, aims to prevent violence by helping users recognize when behaviors escalate from normalized actions to serious aggression. Local authorities, including the Municipal Institute for Women (IMMUJER), noted that the tool will be supported by protocols for victims and guidance through emergency services like 911.

Following the installation at the Rosarito Sports Unit, the local government plans to expand the strategy by placing additional violentometers in high-traffic areas, including the ‘Profe’, ‘Andrés Luna’, and ‘Lomas de Coronado’ sports units.
