Playas de Rosarito search for missing 18-year-old student

An intensive search operation is underway in Playas de Rosarito for César Yadiel Calderón Cervantes, an 18-year-old university student who went missing in the ocean on Saturday, October 3.

The incident occurred at Los Alisitos beach when the young man and a friend encountered difficulties while swimming. Although bystanders managed to rescue one individual using a jet ski, Calderón Cervantes was swept away by currents and lost from sight.

Search efforts involve personnel from the Fire and Civil Protection departments of Playas de Rosarito, Tijuana, and Ensenada, utilizing drones, jet skis, and maritime observation patrols. The Mexican Navy is also conducting surveillance along the shoreline. Authorities are focusing the search both at the site of the incident and toward the north, following marine current analysis that suggests the victim may have been displaced in that direction.
