Playasia shuts down online store following cyberattacks

Hong Kong-based online retailer Playasia has temporarily taken its store offline following several weeks of what CEO Jan Neuhäußer described as “increasingly sophisticated and relentless attacks.” The company stated the shutdown is necessary to conduct a full security audit and harden its systems.

Neuhäußer noted that the company is part of a larger, coordinated, and systemic campaign targeting thousands of digital-first companies. The retailer, which has operated since 2002 and specializes in region-exclusive video games and collectibles, has reported the incidents to global cybercrime units and relevant authorities.
