PlaySide Studios reveals Game of Thrones RTS game

PlaySide Studios has revealed the first gameplay trailer for ‘Game of Thrones: War for Westeros’, a new real-time strategy (RTS) game based on the HBO series. Officially licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the title is currently scheduled for release on PC via Steam in early 2027, with a beta phase planned for 2026.

Players will control one of four factions: the Stark, Lannister, Targaryen, or White Walkers. The gameplay features classic RTS mechanics, including resource collection, unit training, and base building, alongside playable heroes with unique abilities. Each faction utilizes asymmetric design, offering different armies and combat mechanisms.

While the game is being promoted as a premium PC experience, the developers have not explicitly ruled out future console ports for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S, though no such plans are currently confirmed. The release date was shifted from an earlier window to 2027 to allow the studio additional development time.
