PlayStation 5 jailbreak enables Windows-style PC gaming
The PlayStation 5 modding community is experiencing significant activity following the emergence of the ‘Relapse’ exploit. This exploit allows for the jailbreaking of Sony consoles, provided they are running firmware versions prior to 14.xx.xx.
One notable development is Mihawk OS, a project designed to mimic the Windows 11 interface on the console. This system aims to allow PC games to run on the PlayStation 5 hardware, effectively transforming the console into a computer-like environment. Other developments include emulators capable of running PlayStation 2 games and unauthorized versions of the PlayStation Store.
While these advancements offer new capabilities, they also present risks. Modding can lead to security concerns and impacts the gaming market through piracy. Sony is expected to take measures to address these vulnerabilities and protect its closed ecosystem.
