PlayStation 5 Pro prices surge amid memory crisis and GTA VI demand

The price of the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro has surged significantly due to a memory crisis and increased demand. While the console originally launched with a recommended price of 799.99 euros and was later adjusted to 899.99 euros, it is currently being offered at inflated prices ranging from 1,200 to nearly 1,400 euros.

This spike in demand is largely attributed to the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI. Following a gameplay showcase in late August 2026, the PlayStation 5 Pro became largely unavailable in standard retail channels. This trend of rising hardware costs is also affecting PC components, such as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090, as the industry faces ongoing supply challenges.
