PlayStation 5 Pro successfully runs PS3 title via emulator

A modded PlayStation 5 Pro has successfully demonstrated the ability to run the PlayStation 3 title ‘Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty’ at 60 FPS using the RPCS3 emulator. This achievement was demonstrated by a user known as Sword, showing that the hardware can handle instruction translation without relying on cloud services.

The development has sparked debate regarding Sony’s official stance on backward compatibility. While Sony has previously stated that the unique architecture of the Cell processor makes native compatibility technically difficult, this successful emulation suggests that the AMD Zen 2 processor and updated graphics chips in the PS5 Pro possess sufficient power to run older software locally.
