PlayStation and Nintendo lead U.S. console market over Xbox
A survey from Statista Consumer Insights indicates a significant shift in the United States console market, with Sony's PlayStation and Nintendo gaining substantial ground over Microsoft's Xbox.
According to the data, which surveyed over 3,200 American gamers, PlayStation holds a presence near 85%, followed by Nintendo at approximately 76%, while Xbox stands at 58%. The results suggest that Xbox is struggling with hardware adoption; notably, the older Xbox One retains more active players in the U.S. than the newer Xbox Series X|S, indicating a lack of consumer interest in upgrading.
While Sony maintains a solid lead, the report notes that many players utilize multiple platforms, as the combined percentages exceed 100%. Microsoft continues to focus on services like Xbox Cloud Gaming and Game Pass to navigate these challenges and seek growth outside of traditional hardware sales.
