PlayStation files new trademark for Sly Cooper franchise
PlayStation has filed a new trademark for the Sly Cooper franchise, sparking speculation among fans regarding a potential series revival. The filing, noted by reporter Stephen Totilo on September 11, focuses specifically on merchandise such as posters, graphic novels, and various art products rather than video game titles.
While trademark filings often precede new game announcements, the current filing is limited to consumer goods. The franchise has been dormant since the release of 'Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time' in 2013. Although the move to renew merchandise rights for an inactive property is unusual, it remains unclear if this is preparation for a new release or simply a brand management decision. Sucker Punch Productions, the original developer, has previously stated that no new projects related to the series are currently in development.
