Marvel’s Wolverine reveals combat details and features

Insomniac Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment have released new details and a features trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine, scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026. The game features an aggressive combat system centered on momentum, utilizing claws, kicks, and critical strikes. Players can equip up to four Special Techniques simultaneously, such as Tornado Spin and Knee Breaker, and use Adaptations to customize playstyles by improving parry windows or bullet absorption.

A central mechanic is the three-tier Rage system, which focuses on survival, resilience, and fury, allowing players to enter a berserker state. The narrative follows Logan and members of Team X, including Jean Grey, as they oppose Bolivar Trask's anti-mutant plans in a world where mutants are nearing extinction.

Additional features include New Game Plus with exclusive techniques, a Mission Replay mode, and a Photo Mode arriving via a day-one update. Players can also discover collectibles like whiskey bottles to unlock memories and materials to craft various suits, including versions inspired by Old Man Logan and the Deadpool & Wolverine film. To promote the launch, PlayStation is hosting interactive activations at FAN EXPO Canada in Toronto.
