Plaza Athénée hotel targeted in 1 million euro luxury theft
Two burglars executed a high-profile theft at the Plaza Athénée hotel in Paris during the night of September 8-9. The intruders scaled the building's exterior facade to reach a suite on the seventh floor.
The thieves targeted a Malian businessman, though no physical violence was used against him. The stolen goods are estimated to be worth approximately 1 million euros, including high-value jewelry and a Richard Mille watch valued between 400,000 and 600,000 euros.
The Paris judicial authorities and the Brigade de répression du banditisme (BRB) are investigating the incident, which has raised concerns regarding security vulnerabilities in luxury establishments located in highly secured districts.
