Plaza Premium Group to expand Hong Kong Airport services with new lounges and transit hotel
Plaza Premium Group founder and CEO Song Haixi has announced plans to expand services at Hong Kong International Airport following the activation of Terminal 2 (T2). The group intends to reopen its airport lounges in T2, featuring new concepts such as a music hall and a wellness area equipped with oxygen chambers to cater to diverse traveler needs.
Additionally, the group is bidding for a hotel project within the T2 airside area. The proposed Aerotel facility would feature over 90 rooms and amenities including a swimming pool, massage services, and a gym. The hotel will focus on a ‘short-stay’ model, offering flexible six-hour increments to accommodate transit passengers and those with early or late flights.
Song noted that while the aviation industry faced significant challenges during the pandemic—resulting in a $120 million loss for the group—the sector is seeing a strong recovery. He expressed confidence in the ‘Skytopia’ airport city blueprint, suggesting that increased passenger flow will follow the economic recovery in mainland China.
