PLDT Enterprise deploys Starlink to support Mindanao earthquake recovery

Following a powerful earthquake in Mindanao, PLDT Enterprise, in collaboration with PLDT and Smart, has deployed Starlink satellite connectivity to support recovery efforts. The initiative aims to maintain critical communication links for local government units, emergency responders, and affected communities where traditional infrastructure may be compromised.

Field teams were dispatched to assess network facilities in areas including General Santos City and various municipalities in South Cotabato. While most PLDT and Smart facilities remained operational, some service disruptions occurred due to commercial power interruptions.

Starlink solutions have been rolled out to provide vital connectivity for command centers, rescue operation centers, and medical facilities, including Malungon Sarangani Provincial Hospital and Alabel Sarangani Provincial Hospital. The deployment was coordinated with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and local government authorities.
