Plinio Sciamanna appointed head coach of Italy women's rugby

The Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) has officially appointed Plinio Sciamanna as the head coach of the women's national rugby team. Sciamanna, who has served as the forwards coach since 2021, had been acting in an interim capacity following the departure of former coach Fabio Roselli.

To support the new technical leadership, Francesco Mazzariol has been named as an assistant coach focusing on backs and offensive play. Mazzariol is a former national team scrum-half with significant coaching experience at clubs such as Mogliano Rugby.

FIR Technical Director Daniele Pacini stated that the decision aims to provide continuity to the technical and cultural path established with the team. Sciamanna expressed that leading the national team is a great responsibility and emphasized his commitment to raising performance standards both on and off the field.
