Pljevlja Municipality approves Patriarch Varnava Square design

The Municipality of Pljevlja has received official approval from the Chief State Architect for the updated conceptual design of Patriarch Varnava Square. This decision by the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property removes a significant administrative barrier that had previously delayed the start of construction.

The project, designed by the Podgorica-based company Geotechnics Projects Consulting, aims to transform the city center into a representative public space for walking, social gatherings, and cultural events. The square will feature a central plateau with a 3.5-meter monument dedicated to Patriarch Varnava Rosić, produced by the Stanišić foundry.

A contract for the first phase of construction was signed in March between Municipality President Darij Vraneš and representative Nikola Vučetić of the local company VING. The contract is valued at 531,565 euros including VAT, with a construction timeline of 120 days once work commences. The development is expected to enhance local urban infrastructure and stimulate economic activity in the region.
