Pljevlja reintroduces traffic lights after 40 years

Traffic lights are being reintroduced to the streets of Pljevlja after more than four decades. Installation work is currently underway at two key intersections: the Jalija neighborhood and the intersection of Prijepolje Street and Miloša Tošića near the 'Voli' market.

Portal and semi-portal poles and lanterns have already been installed at these locations. The project, which includes the addition of directional signage at the 'Voli' intersection on the main road, is being executed by the Podgorica-based company 'Telegroup' for an investment value of 263,172 euros.

Pljevlja was previously one of the few Montenegrin cities lacking classic traffic light regulation. While approximately 15 intersections in the city were regulated by signals during the 1980s, the system eventually ceased to function and was removed. Local authorities are currently securing the necessary documentation and approvals to connect and activate the new system in accordance with legal procedures.
