PLN consolidates subsidiaries and explores biomass hydrogen technology

PT PLN (Persero) has implemented a strategic restructuring by merging its subsidiaries, PT PLN Electricity Services and PT PLN Nusa Daya, into a new subholding named PLN Services. This move follows directives from President Prabowo via Danantara Asset Management to streamline state-owned enterprises. PLN Services will operate through two pillars: Generation Services, focusing on power plant operation and maintenance, and Business Enablement Services, covering operational support such as manpower and facility management. Management has assured that the merger will not result in any layoffs, with all employees transitioning to the new structure.

In a separate development, PT PLN Energi Primer Indonesia (PLN EPI) has signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with US-based clean energy technology firm FLEXIH Inc. The agreement aims to explore the development of low-carbon hydrogen derived from biomass. The collaboration will involve exchanging information to evaluate biomass as a feedstock, hydrogen offtake opportunities, and potential investment options. FLEXIH Inc specializes in modular E-Refinery technology, including plasma gasification, which can convert various feedstocks into low-carbon hydrogen, ammonia, and chemical products.
