PLN expands electric vehicle charging network in Sulawesi

PT PLN (Persero) UID Sulselrabar has expanded the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in eastern Indonesia by operating 84 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) across 61 locations. These facilities are distributed throughout South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi, covering provincial capitals, regency cities, inter-provincial routes, and public areas such as shopping centers, airports, and campuses.

The infrastructure includes 16 dedicated charging stations for two-wheeled vehicles and various charging speeds, ranging from standard 7 kW to ultra-fast charging at 200 kW. This expansion follows a 53.7 percent increase in the number of electric vehicles in the region since April 2026, reaching 3,441 units by early October.

To facilitate ease of use, PLN provides the EV Digital Services feature via the PLN Mobile application, allowing users to locate the nearest stations, initiate charging, and complete transactions.
