PLN Indonesia Power and Academics Collaborate on Energy Transition
PT PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP) and academic institutions are intensifying efforts to prepare the younger generation for Indonesia's energy transition. Through initiatives like the ‘InPower Talks’ held at the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in Surabaya, the company aims to bridge the gap between industry perspectives and academic research regarding renewable energy technology and sustainable innovation.
In North Kalimantan, the Electrical Engineering program at Universitas Borneo Tarakan (UBT) is implementing a ‘trihelix’ collaboration model involving government, industry, and academia. This partnership focuses on solving regional electricity issues, such as designing solar power plants for remote villages and planning undersea cable interconnections between Sekatak and Tarakan. PLN has opened opportunities for students to engage in research, internships, and final projects to ensure human resources are equipped to handle the shift from conventional power to renewable energy sources.
