Indonesia launches 100 GWp solar program to boost energy self-sufficiency
Indonesia is advancing its renewable energy transition through several major initiatives. President Prabowo Subianto officially launched a 100 GWp Solar Power Plant (PLTS) program in Gilimanuk, Bali. This program aims to achieve national energy self-sufficiency and includes an initial phase of 14 projects totaling 5,300 MWp across the country.
In support of regional infrastructure, PLN UIP Sulawesi is coordinating with the Gorontalo Provincial Government to accelerate electricity development. Key achievements include the 100% completion of the 150 kV Marisa Extension 30 MVA substation and the successful energization of the 30 MVA Transformer Bay. Plans are also underway for new transmission networks in northern and southern Gorontalo.
Additionally, PT PLN (Persero) is focusing on youth empowerment through its ‘Srikandi Goes to School & Campus’ program. As of mid-2026, the initiative has reached 1,422 students and university students across 20 institutions, providing education on green energy, electric vehicle conversion, and career opportunities within the electricity sector.
