Ploiești hosts Artown NOW urban art festival

Artown NOW urban art Ploieşti Grammar of Freedom cultural festival

From 18 September to 4 October 2024, the Fabrica UZUC complex in Ploieşti will host the fifth edition of Artown NOW, Romania’s only annual urban‑art festival. The 2024 theme, “Grammar of Freedom”, invites artists and visitors to explore how a city learns to be free, with the verb “to be” as the central motif.

Over 100 events are planned, including murals, sculptures, installations, street interventions, exhibitions, concerts, workshops, theatre performances, and guided tours. The festival opened early on 24 August for the public to watch artists work on‑site, turning the creative process itself into an immersive experience.

The project is supported by Shopping City Ploieşti, NEPI Rockcastle, Kaufland, KraftaNlagen, IPIP and is co‑financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration (AFCN). The AFCN disclaimer notes that it is not responsible for the project’s content or use of the results.
