Plopsa De Panne criticized over autism accessibility policies

Plopsa De Panne is facing criticism regarding its accessibility policies for visitors with autism. According to the foundation 'Stichting Uit met Autisme', visitors who cannot use standard queues are still required to bring an assigned companion to access alternative entry points.

This policy also mandates that the companion must accompany the visitor on the attraction itself. Romano Sandee, director of the foundation, noted the contradiction in requiring a companion for queueing difficulties when the individual is otherwise capable of using the park and attractions independently. The foundation is monitoring the situation, noting that a previously announced policy adjustment has not yet been implemented. A hearing is scheduled with the Flemish Institute for Human Rights for December 10, 2026.
