Plovdiv begins construction of residential care center
Construction has officially commenced on a new residential care center for persons with disabilities in the Trakia district of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The project, part of the “Plovdiv: Cleaner, Greener, and Socially Responsible City” initiative, is funded by the Regional Development Program 2021–2027.
The total investment for the project is approximately 12.9 million euros. This includes the development of 15 new residential social services and one social support center. The services are specifically designed to support 225 individuals, including 5 services for people with dementia, 4 for those with intellectual disabilities, and 6 for people with physical disabilities.
The complex will consist of eight buildings with a total built-up area of over 8,000 square meters, plus a separate 576.9 square meter building for social support. The facilities aim to provide an environment close to a home setting, allowing small groups of up to five users to live independently in fully accessible buildings. Completion is expected between August 2027 and August 2028.
